Uptown Marion will host its third-annual Commercial Real Estate Showcase from 4-6:30 p.m. March 30.
The event will feature district updates and tours of new construction, current renovations and properties available for purchase or lease.
Participants will meet at Ramsey’s Wine Bistro, 1120 Seventh Ave., for a welcome and program. They will then have the opportunity to tour available properties before a 5:30 p.m. MeetUp PartnerUp Networking Event sponsored by Skogman Realty at Ramsey’s.
“Marion is currently seeing a lot of growth and some considerably large project renovations of historic buildings along with new construction,” Brooke Prouty, Uptown Marion’s program director, said in a press release. “Investing in the district and locating your business here comes with a unique set of challenges and opportunities unlike any other commercial area in the region. We are here to work with those owners, to help in their success and that of the district.”
Marion Mayor Nick AbouAssaly and City Manager Lon Pluckhahn will discuss development in the city. Ryan Companies representatives will also discuss the economic impact of Marion’s library project. Cara Briggs Farmer, the winner of 2016’s Open 4 Business Competition and owner of Synergy Metalworks, will speak about the city’s developing artistic community.
Current building renovations underway or planned in Uptown Marion are valued at more than $8.5 million. Total new construction underway exceeds $9 million. In January, the organization was awarded a $75,000 Main Street Iowa Challenge Grant towards the renovation of historic Kuba-Kurtz Building, soon to open as Brick Alley Pub & Sports Bar at 1038 Seventh Ave.
The event is free and open to the public, but attendees are asked to RSVP at the Uptown Marion website.
