MARION — Giving Tree Theater in Marion opens its doors to the public for the first time Friday night.
Their first production is the classic Tennessee Williams play, The Glass Menagerie. A portion of the proceeds from all nine performances of The Glass Menagerie will be donated directly to Foundation 2.
Giving back to the community is part of the theater’s mission. For each production the cast votes on which charity they would like to donate money to.
That’s not the only thing that makes this theater venue unique. Vintage couches and chairs make for a cozy, intimate vibe. The theater is owned by Richie and Heather Akers, a husband and wife team who have been involved in the theater scene for many years.
The Glass Menagerie opens January 30th and runs through February 15th.
