PARADE RETURNS TO UPTOWN MARION ON SEPTEMBER 9
Marion Announces Full Line-Up of September Events
The City of Marion is bringing a parade back to Uptown Marion for the first time in four years. It will take place on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. as part of a full slate of “Fall Into Marion” events happening through September.
The theme of the parade celebrates all things fall. Both Marion and Linn-Mar High School marching bands plan to participate, along with a variety of nonprofits and area businesses. Floats are encouraged and prizes will be awarded in a number of categories.
To sign up to participate, please visit www.cityofmarion.org/fallintomarion and register online through the RecDesk portal. Registration is $45, but nonprofits are not required to pay a fee. The parade is limited to 125 entries and the deadline to register is Friday, Sept. 1, 2023. Registrations will not be accepted the day of the parade.

Marion Farmers Market
Saturday, Sept. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, Taube Park
Visit your neighborhood farmers market each Saturday. Find produce, baked goods, meats, wine and more between 8-11 a.m. each week.
Fall Into Marion Parade
Saturday, Sept. 9, Uptown Marion
Enjoy the festivities beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will travel north on 15th Street and then west on 6th Avenue from 15th Street to 9th Street. Floats are encouraged and prizes will be awarded. Register by Sept. 1.
Intercultural Festival
Sunday, Sept. 10, Lowe Park
Share stories and food from different cultures from noon-5 p.m. at Lowe Park. This free event will also feature cricket, Zumba and music.
Oktoberfest presented by Sheets Forrest Draper Insurance
Saturday, Sept. 16, Uptown Marion
Back by popular demand, Oktoberfest will be held from noon–3 p.m. with VIP a hour from 11 a.m.-noon. The event will feature over 30 breweries sampling their craft along 7th Avenue and traditional German games, including hammerschlagen and stein holding. Additionally, the Horizons 5K powered by FSB will be held at 9:30 a.m. (Ticketed event.)
Theater in the Park present by Giving Tree Theater
Saturday, Sept. 16, Klopfenstein Amphitheater at Lowe Park
Come see a free showing of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, produced by Giving Tree Theater starting at 5:30 p.m. This will be the first-ever play held at Lowe Park, sponsored by the City of Marion. (Additional showings with tickets for purchase will be held at Giving Tree Theater.)

Enjoy rock n’ roll hits by some of your favorite local musicians in the Uptown Artway. Sit on the patio of a nearby bar or bring your own bag chair. The music begins at 7 p.m.

Join us for an all-car cruise-in at Thomas Park from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Suggested donation to benefit Eastern Iowa Honor Flights. If it rains, the show will be canceled.

Red Cedar Chamber Music will present a free concert of their program Retracted Retirement at noon.

Tailgate in the Park

Come root for the Hawkeyes on the BIG screen at this family-friendly tailgate atmosphere at Lowe Park. Play classic tailgate games, enjoy kids’ inflatables and activities, compete in a football skills competition and try tailgate-inspired foods. Bring chairs/blankets for open lawn seating. Outside food and drink are permitted, but food will be available for purchase. (Time TBD.)
